LEIFKER ARRESTED FOLLOWING SHOOTING NOT FAR FROM LANTANA ROAD
Cumberland County deputies responded yesterday to a shooting.
The arrest report states a man pulled his vehicle up near a building on O’Camp Road not far from Lantana Road to use the internet. Moments later, 71-year-old Paul Bernard Leifker confronted the gentleman accusing him of selling drugs and stealing.
The victim in the automobile told law enforcement Leifker drew a firearm from a holster and shot the rear driver’s side window. The victim drove off but not before a second bullet discharged struck the passenger rear window and front windshield.
Law enforcement interviewed Leifker who reportedly said he received a call informing him the victim in this case was on his way to the scene. Leifker allegedly was waiting for him when he arrived and an argument started. The deputy noted Leifker said he fired a .22 caliber firearm and hit the windows but was not trying to shoot the man inside the vehicle in an attempt to scare him off.
