LOUDON CO. TO CONSIDER RESOLUTION FOR ELECTED DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS

After being presented with a petition with over 100 signatures, a Loudon County commissioner is recommending to the full commission to draft a resolution to send to the state calling for the director of schools position to be elected. The Education Improvement Act of 1992 says school boards are the only authority that can designate a director. The proposal by commissioner David Meers is not expected to be addressed until at least October.
