MAINSTREAM MEDIA LARGELY IGNORES FOOTBALLERS’ PRAYERS FOR – AND WITH – PRESIDENT

When Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide football team visited the White House recently, they made the most of their visit, with much of it going unreported by the media. Over the past year and a half, whenever collegiate sports teams visited the executive mansion, the mainstream media would take great delight in jumping over the story of individual players who boycotted the visit, in efforts to play up discontent over the current president. But they couldn’t do that this time – because not one of the players boycotted. On the contrary, the Tide showed proper respect and support for the office of the presidency, and especially for President Donald J. Trump.

The president welcomed the team to the White House to celebrate their national title, which they clinched in January. While the entire ceremony was special, something amazing happened afterward that much of the media has kept mum about. After Trump lauded praise on Alabama for their victory over Georgia in the National Championship game, punter J.K. Scott took the president aside and asked whether he could pray for him and the rest of the White House staff. Given a presidential go-ahead, Scott and his teammates gathered around Trump and prayed together in a beautiful show of American unity – a unity that’s been all too uncommon of late.
