MAJOR DRUG ARREST ON TAYLORS CHAPEL ROAD
On Wednesday last week, deputies Morgan Alvarez and Jacob Moore traveled to a residence on Taylor’s Chapel Road. Deputy Moore said he was aware that this property and residence belonged to a suspect by the name of Everett Lawrence Grant Jr., And the deputies were there to speak with Grant to get information about an individual with active warrants in the county. Deputy Moore said he was aware that this property and residence belonged to a suspect named Everett Lawrence Grant Jr.
In previous encounters, Grant had assisted deputies by giving information on where people may stay, but his home has also been the location of arrest for many individuals over the years who have lived in Cumberland County.
The deputies approached the front door of the residence, and Grant met them. As he exited the residence, the deputies smelled burnt marijuana emanating from the home. When asked about this, Grant said that he had just smoked a joint.
Grant was asked to go inside and retrieve the joint, but when deputies asked to follow him inside, Grant denied their request. Deputy Moore asked for Grant’s consent to search the home however, Grant became visibly upset at the request.
Grant attempted to shut the door, but Deputy Moore followed him inside to make sure that evidence wouldn’t be destroyed. Individuals inside the house were asked to leave, and a search of the three residents inside turned up two hypodermic syringes and a small clear bag.
Later that night, Deputy Moore would return with a search warrant alongside Investigator Lucas Turner, Sergeant Dustin Jackson, Sergeant Ryan Ashburn, Corporal Brent Griffin, and Deputy Morgan Alvarez.
Searching the residence would turn up a set of black digital scales and a silver metal weighing cup; a plastic container with a cellophane wrapper containing white rectangular pills identified as buspirone hydrochloride, a brown paste substance contained in a strip of aluminum foil; a metal can containing a clear plastic bag with a crystal-like substance inside; a prescription pill bottle for acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate; a white plate with a white crystal-like substance on top of it; another set of black digital scales and a weighing cup; three individual bags and a homemade pipe; a plastic bag containing psilocybin mushrooms; a blue Motorola cellular telephone; a loaded Springfield XD 40 caliber handgun; orange pills located on a shelf next to a bed with the imprint “g500” that would later be identified as sulfa salazine; and several surveillance cameras found inside the bedroom commonly used to detect law enforcement presence or protect drugs from being stolen.
All evidence was seized from the scene and taken to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office for processing, and Grant was taken into custody and transported to intake, where he would be charged with manufacturing, delivery, selling, or possession of meth; two counts of manufacturing, delivering, and selling a controlled substance; and possession of a legend drug.
Also arrested at the scene was Justin A. Wooldridge, who has pending charges as well as a search warrant for the cell phone located in his bedroom.
