MAN ALLEGEDLY COMES CLOSE TO HITTING ROANE COUNTY CRUISER MONDAY MORNING

A Memphis, Tennessee man was arrested in Roane County this morning (Monday, April 3, 2017) after allegedly coming too close with his vehicle to a deputy sheriff car off the side of the interstate.

Roane County Deputy S. Hammons reported that he was assisting the Tennessee Highway Patrol with an accident on Interstate 40 westbound at the 343 mile marker. The deputy positioned his cruiser 100 yards before the accident scene to get traffic to shift to the right lane of travel away from the accident. That is when a green GMC pickup operated by 57-year-old Ismael Bolanos of Memphis allegedly approached and did not move over as required by state law. Hammons pulled Bolanos over and asked for his driver license, registration, and proof of insurance. According to the report, Bolanos stated that he did not speak English, and handed the deputy a United Stated permanent resident card, and Social Security card. A check of the identification revealed Bolanos’s driver license was revoked out of Mississippi for a prior DUI.

Bolanos was placed under arrest for driving on a revoked license and transported to the Roane County jail for processing. He was also issued a warning citation for failure to yield to emergency vehicles.
