MAN ARRESTED AFTER BLOODY ALTERCATION

Last Saturday night (November 4, 2017), Crossville police responded to the area of Mayberry’s Furniture for two male subjects fighting. According to the arrest report, officers arrived to find one man, 30-year-old Joshua Dewayne Smith of Crossville, with blood running down his face. A female screamed at officers that Smith allegedly had a gun. Smith was ordered to raise his hands which he did then jerked his hands down in a threatening manner. Smith allegedly told officers to shoot him but one officer got in position and was able to bring Smith to the ground taking him into custody. A search of Smith allegedly revealed two knives and a half pair of scissors. The incident reportedly started with Smith and an unnamed male was standing in the road and a vehicle occupied by a man and woman approached them. The male driver stopped and asked the two to get out of the road. That is when Smith allegedly went to the vehicle, pounding on the door then opened it and drug the man outside. Officers say that is when the fight started between the two. Smith was charged with aggravated assault and public intoxication.
