MAN ARRESTED AFTER INCIDENT IN ROANE COUNTY, TWO RUNAWAY JUVENILES CHARGED

Late last night (Monday, May 29, 2017), Roane County deputies responded to 4225 Harriman Highway (Highway 61) to a report of a hit and run. Dispatch advised responding officers that a red Chevrolet pickup with three occupants had fled the scene after striking a vehicle. Officers found the truck at 3975 Harriman Highway wiith a juvenile female and two juvenile males at the vehicle. The juvenile female told officers she took the other two underaged males to deliver property to a woman at a residence. The juvenile males arrived and got into an argument with 55-year-old Horace Trent Russell at the home and the juveniles allegedly sprayed him with pepper spray. While trying to leave the residence, the Chevrolet struck a parked vehicle. According to officers, that is when Russell got into a truck and rammed the side of the Chevrolet causing damage and breaking the steering link on the front wheel. The juvenile female was able to drive the Chevrolet down the highway despite the damage and called her parents for help. When officers questioned the two juvenile males, they claimed that did not know their social security number and gave false names and dates of birth. The two would later be revealed as runaways out of Putnam County. Russell was placed under arrest for three counts of aggravated assault from allegedly driving his vehicle into the juvenile subject’s vehicle. Both male juveniles were transported to Putnam County for processing on runaway charges. Deputies say one juvenile male was charged with criminal impersonation while the other male juvenile was charged with criminal impersonation, assault and simple possession of a Schedule III drug.
