MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP
A Sparta man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop this week by Cumberland County deputies. According to the arrest report, an officer stopped a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Gerald Lane Lawson for having an expired tag. The deputy reportedly saw a loaded syringe in the passenger seat after Lawson moved his coat. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a bag of marijuana. Lawson was transported to the Cumberland County jail where a bag of meth was reportedly found in his pocket. Lawson was charged with the manufacture, sale and delivery of drugs, simple possession of drugs and driving on a revoked/suspended license.
