MAN ARRESTED ON WAY TO WEST VIRGINIA WITH STOLEN TRUCK AND CARD

On Oct. 24th, Deputy Steven Richardson with Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office came in contact with a 1995 Toyota Tacoma on Highway 70 North bearing tags that didn’t match the vehicle. The driver, identified as Nicholas Treadway, was putting gas in the vehicle.

He identified himself as Nickolas Johnson and said his date of birth was 06/11/1985, and that he didn’t know his social security number. A check of the VIN through NCIC showed the vehicle stolen out of West Virginia, and Treadway also had the owner’s stolen debit card in his pocket that he claimed belonged to his friend who let him borrow it for his trip.

Treadway said that he was driving from Florida to West Virginia. The truck was freshly spray painted with the paint cans still in the bed of the truck.

Treadway was found to be unsteady on his feet, jittery, and having trouble forming sentences. Saying multiple times he needed to get back on the road to complete his pickup, but wouldn’t explain what he was on the way to pickup.

After talking to the owner the following day, he estimated the value of his vehicle is $3,500.00, and stated the debit card was used several times. Treadway was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail without incident, and charged with Motor Vehicle Theft, Vandalism, Criminal Impersonation, Theft of a debit card and Public Intoxication.
