DRIVER CA– USES SEVERAL FIRST RESPONDERS TO BE STRUCK WHILE THEY WORK ACCIDENT

A driver in Hendersonville has been charged in a multi-vehicle wreck which caused several first responders to be struck. Authorities were on the scene of an accident at New Shackle Island and Drakes Creek Road which involved a motorcycle and a vehicle. EMS crews were on the scene when 52-year-old Calvin F. Emanuel II, backed into another car and attempted to drive around traffic in the wrong direction. Emanuel reportedly sideswiped a car and drove over a firefighter’s foot before speeding up and crashing into an ambulance that was carrying a patient. A deputy standing behind the ambulance was struck and an EMT in the back of the ambulance was thrown out and also injured. All those who were struck were treated at local hospitals and the roadway was closed down for a time during the cleanup.
