Authorities in Roane County have charged a man with possession of a weapon while under-the-influence. Authorities received a call Monday for a reckless driver in a grey “primered” Dodge truck. The vehicle was found sitting in the parking lot of the Budget Motel in Rockwood with the male driver slumped over the steering wheel. The suspect, identified as Kyle Cook of Burnside, KY, was barely conscious but he told officers that he had taken Xanax. When he was asked about having any weapons, Cook reached toward an empty holster on his right hip. Police grabbed his arm and then noted a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and loaded magazine inside the truck. The gun was secured and Cook failed several sobriety tests. He was also charged with driving on a revoked license.
