McMINN CO. BUSINESS TEMPORARILY SHUT DOWN UNDER NUISANCE LAW

A popular swimming spot in McMinn County has been temporarily shut down under the public-nuisance law. The owners of Blue Cove Hideaway on County Road 116 were served the order last Friday under Tennessee’s public-nuisance law. Over a three-year span, deputies responded there to two deaths, arson, underage drinking, illegal camping and narcotics violations. One of the site owners, 67-year-old Charles Womac, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting stop, frisk and halt, and false imprisonment. A hearing for the business closure is expected to be held soon.
