METRO NASHVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OFFERS COUNSELING OPTION IN WAKE OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  In the wake of last week’s presidential election, Metro Nashville Public Schools has contacted parents by phone notifying them schools will have counseling available for their children.  The phone recording states “The United States has just experienced what many across the country view as one of the most divisive election seasons in recent history.” The recording goes on to remind parents free counseling is available and counselors have a special “post-election protocol” available. The recording coincides with several protests held by Fisk University and Vanderbilt University students on their respective campuses and on Nashville streets.

Though some parents have expressed concern about their children being exposed to unwanted counseling, the recording states it is available as an option for those who choose to participate and not something students would be exposed to unwillingly.
