In a tragic accident, a Morgan County girl lost her life this week at a recreation area in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Officials say 12-year-old Georgia Myrick Stuart of Wartburg fell into the water at the Rockpile recreation area near the base of Wilson Dam, got into the waterfall and got trapped in a drain pipe. Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to extract the child and she was pulled from the drain pipe by members of the Muscle Shoals Fire Department. She was then rushed to Helen Keller Hospital in Muscle Shoals by ambulance where she was pronounced deceased an hour later. Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg will be in charge of funeral arrangements.
