MORGAN COUNTY JAIL RE-CERTIFIED FOR ANOTHER YEAR

Morgan County Sheriff Glen Freytag says that the county jail will not be decertified this year. Following a meeting in Nashville with the Tennessee Correction Institute Board, Sheriff Freytag and Jail Administrator Trevor Shadden  were informed that the jail has been recertified until Dec. 2017. The facility has seen several renovations in the last few years in an attempt to get it up to state standards. Also, Sheriff Freytag says that the firing of former chief deputy Steve Cochran will lead to restructuring in the sheriff’s dept. Instead of hiring someone to fill the position, the promotion will take place from within the department’s ranks. Cochran was fired from the position for poor job performance.
