MULTIPLE INJURIES REPORTED IN FOUR-VEHICLE CRASH ON I-40 WESTBOUND

A Friday evening collision on Interstate 40 Westbound near the 334.4-mile marker involved four vehicles and a Tennessee family, following a traffic slowdown in the primary travel lane.
The incident occurred on September 4, 2026, at approximately 6:54 PM. According to local reports, a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 31-year-old Meredith Patalon of North Carolina slowed down due to congestion in lane one. A trailing 2019 Toyota sedan, operated by 44-year-old Nathan Somers of Tennessee, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the Chevrolet.
The Toyota was carrying a total of six occupants, including 40-year-old passenger Kallie Somers and four minors. Emergency services responded to the scene of the multi-car crash, which temporarily disrupted traffic flow along the heavily traveled interstate corridor.
Authorities continue to investigate the factors contributing to the rear-end collision.
