The Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to install traffic cameras and new overhead message boards informing motorists of traffic alerts and lane closures in the coverage area. The message board will be on I-40 in strategic places in Cumberland, Roane and Putnam counties. The message boards should be installed and active by 2023 at the earliest. The project aims to aid and keep motorists safe, while giving them information about approaching traffic accidents or construction work.
