NO INJURIES IN WEDNESDAY MORNING SCHOOL BUS WRECK IN ATHENS
An Athens City Schools bus driver is recovering after an accident that took place Wednesday morning. Police say that 65-year-old John Wilson was at the intersection of Haley and Sliger Streets just before 7 AM when he passed out behind the wheel. Eight middle school students were onboard the bus at the time. Wilson’s bus was traveling at a very slow speed according to reports, as he was approaching the intersection. The bus struck a stop sign and a parked car before stopping. No one was injured in the accident and Wilson was transported to the hospital by private vehicle while students were transferred to another bus for transport.
