NO INJURIES REPORTED IN TRACTOR-TRAILER ACCIDENT ON INTERSTATE 40

A tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 40 close to the Cumberland/Putnam County line early this afternoon fortunately resulted in no injuries but left a traffic nightmare for hours. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2005 Freightliner driven by 57-year-old Paul Eric Black of Hendersonville, North Carolina was traveling west on I-40 at the 304 mile marker around 1 pm when he ran off the roadway on the left side. Black over corrected and the rig went over on its side in the median disconnecting from the trailer hauling paper products. Troopers say Black was restrained at the time of the accident. A second tractor-trailer had to take evasive action to prevent hitting Black and went off the road. Westbound traffic was closed for several hours as the accident scene was investigated and what was left of the trailer was cleaned up.
