OLIVER SPRINGS MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED AGGRAVATED SEXUAL BATTERY

A 33-year-old Oliver Springs man will spend the next eight years of his life on state probation for committing a sex crime. Andre Deshawn Boyd was scheduled to stand trial last week in Roane County Criminal Court for aggravates sexual battery. Instead, he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to the lesser crime of attempted aggravated sexual battery. An investigation conducted by Harriman Police found that Boyd allowed a 9-year-old female to touch him inappropriately. He will have to sign-up on the sex offender’s registry and will be subject to community supervision for life.
