OLIVER SPRINGS OFFICIALS DISCUSSING CITY EMPLOYEE PAYROLL CHECKS

There’s talk in Oliver Springs about the way city payroll checks are being signed. Auditors found a recent discrepancy in the matter and have asked Mayor Cecil Crowe for a meeting to discuss possible changes in the way the checks are handled. Currently, all checks are signed by the finance officer, treasurer, mayor and city manager. Officials have said that the process has worked in the past and why the change would be made. Mayor Crowe said that there has been no indication of wrong-doing, but that he just thought it was time to change the method finances are distributed and received as far as the payroll checks were concerned.
