ONE DEAD FOLLOWING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING OUTSIDE OF ROCKWOOD
One person is dead following an officer involved shooting in Roane County this morning. Preliminary information indicates around 9:30 a.m. eastern, Rockwood police was dispatched to a domestic altercation between a male and female inside a vehicle on Highway 27 near Rockwood. The female was able to exit the vehicle, and the male continued driving. Law enforcement located the automobile and after a brief pursuit, the male driver stopped on the side of the road. When officers with the Rockwood Police Department and Roane County Sheriff’s Office approached the vehicle, the suspect armed himself with a handgun and brandished it towards authorities. A Rockwood police officer fired his weapon, striking and killing the driver. The suspect was identified as 60-year-old Glynn Farse Young of McMinnville, Tennessee. No officers were injured during the incident. This remains an active and ongoing investigation by the TBI.
