The Tennessee Highway Patrol says one person died in an accident in McMinn County this morning (Thursday, August 3, 2017) on Highway 305, near County Road 220. Troopers say the accident involved two tractor-trailers. Officers say one driver left the scene of the crash, and authorities in Meigs County returned him to the scene. Authorities arrested the driver and took him to jail. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not said what those charges are. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not yet released the identity of the victim.
