It was a night for recognizing accomplishments at Thursday’s Cumberland County Board of Education August meeting. First, Director of Schools Janet Graham handed out gifts and recognized the work of outgoing school board members Richard Janeway, Vivian Hutson and Jim Blaylock. Janeway had served eight years and had been Chairman of the Policy Committee. Hutson served four years and had chaired the Building and Grounds Committee. Blaylock has served on and off as a board member for 24 years. The third round of Campbell, Stone, Wood Charitable Fund Recognitions were handed out to various school clubs, sports teams, and organizations. Over $23,000 was distributed to the group.
