A pit bull puppy may have prevented a tragedy when he dug up a fully loaded .38 special wrapped in a T-Shirt.

Two Greenville, North Carolina police officers were dispatched to Rosemont Apartments where the puppy, named Ryder, had uncovered the weapon buried in the ground.

The officers unloaded the weapon, which is being stored in property and evidence.

Greenville police said there is a good chance little Ryder may have prevented a tragedy, and “he certainly prevented the gun from winding up in the wrong hands.”
