Putnam County authorities are working to determine the cause of a house fire that left a woman dead. Firefighters responded to a Windsor Street home in Cookeville yesterday to find heavy smoke coming from the residence. Inside, authorities found the body of 83-year-old Ruth Allison. Officers say the fire started in the center area of the home. So far, authorities have not found anything to rule the fire criminal in nature. An autopsy to determine a cause of death for Allison has been ordered.
