RAY ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN CROSSVILLE WALMART PARKING LOT
Late Thursday night, Crossville police were called to Walmart for a report of an assault.
The victim told police 19-year-old Daren Thurman Ray of Crossville, had been trying to get him to fight recently because he said the victim reportedly “called his mother a bad name.” The victim said Ray pushed and struck him in the face, then chased him inside the store.
One of Ray’s companions was said to have been recording the incident, which was posted online.
Ray later met officers at the Cumberland County Justice Center, where Ray admitted to the assault, but denied punching the victim in the face.
Ray was cited for simple assault. Walmart’s asset-protection manager is considering banning Ray from the premises.
