UNRESPONSIVE MAN FOUND IN CROSSVILLE DOLLAR GENERAL PARKING LOT
Late Wednesday night, Crossville police responded to the Dollar General on U.S. Highway 127 North for an unresponsive man slumped over the wheel of his car in the parking lot. The man, identified as 28-year-old Eric Christopher Day, admitted shooting up an Opana (oxymorphone hydrochloride) about an hour earlier.
Day had slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and had difficulty keeping his eyes open and responding to questions. When asked where he was, he replied “Cookeville” and when asked what year it was, he said, “2018.”
He refused to go with medical personnel or receive medical treatment. He also admitted he had syringes in his vehicle, but wasn’t certain whether he had any more Opana. Nine syringes were found, eight of them empty, along with cigarette filters Day admitted using to filter the drug, allegedly to break them down faster. One syringe contained what appeared to be blood. No additional drugs were located in the car or on Day’s person.
Day was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
