ROANE B.O.E. APPROVES PURCHASE OF LAND FOR SUPER HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT

The Roane County Board of Education has approved the purchase of just over 140 acres of land across from Roane County Park for the site of the proposed super high school. The price and closing costs was not to exceed $800,000. The plan would consolidate Roane County, Rockwood and Harriman High Schools into one. The land purchase cost now will go before the county commission on October 15th since it will require a budget amendment. The cost for building the school is projected at $67 million dollars. The school building project also calls for moving Oliver Springs High School to Oliver Springs Middle School, moving Ridge View Elementary to Rockwood High School and a new sewer plant for the schools in Midway.
