ROANE CO. COMMISSION WITHDRAWS RESOLUTION REGARDING REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM
The Roane County Commission met last night to entertain a resolution to keep out refugees from Roane County. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced last month his willingness to open up Tennessee to foreign refugees. The resolution before the commission stated the county does not want to be forced into participating in the federal refugee resettlement program. A motion was made to withdraw the resolution and it passes 8 to 6 removing the matter from the agenda. Roane County Commission Chairman Randy Ellis told 105.7 News the commission could entertain the resolution again at a later date.
