Roane County will hold its annual hazardous household waste day event Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9 am until 2 pm at the recycling center in Midtown. Officials say the waste that will be accepted includes degreasers, paint thinner, stain remover, oil based paints, sealants, wood strippers, solvents, antifreeze, gas, brake fluid, floor cleaners, rechargeable batteries, drain cleaners, fertilizers, rodent killer, herbicides, pool chemicals, pesticides and insect spray. Only households will be allowed to bring items to the event. No businesses, agribusiness, schools or church waste will be accepted.
