A Crossville man is set to appear before the Cumberland County General Sessions Court on July 23, 2026, facing a list of felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a series of incidents in late 2024.

Robert Laverne Bottoms II faces four separate charges brought by the State of Tennessee, according to official court docket filings:

• Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent (Felony)

• Public Intoxication (Class C Misdemeanor)

• Aggravated Burglary of a Habitation (Felony)

• Theft of Property Up to $1,000 (Misdemeanor)

Bottoms is currently represented by attorney Kevin Bryant.

Traffic Stop Yields Narcotics and Paraphernalia

The drug-related charges stem from an August 30, 2024, incident. According to an affidavit filed by Deputy Caleb Charles of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 127 North around 10:05 p.m.

Deputies located a black Dodge Ram occupied by Bottoms. Upon ordering him out of the vehicle, Deputy Charles noted that Bottoms displayed clear signs of narcotic intoxication, including slurred speech, dilated pupils, and unsteady balance.

During a consensual search of the vehicle, officers discovered multiple clear baggies, a used methamphetamine pipe, and a magnetic box containing two baggies of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing a combined 5.4 grams (2.06 grams and 3.34 grams). Bottoms was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office intake facility.

Alleged Burglary in Progress

In a separate incident on November 19, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a home on Rector Road following reports of an active burglary.

According to an affidavit of complaint filed by Deputy Michael Winebarger, responding officers arrived to find a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a trailer backed up to the front door of the residence. On the trailer were four cabinets, with an additional cabinet partially resting in the doorway.

Deputies identified two men at the scene, including Bottoms. The affidavit states that both men admitted to removing the cabinets—valued at approximately $700—from inside the home. Bottoms was subsequently charged with aggravated burglary and theft.
