ROCKWOOD CITY COUNCIL APPROVES RESOLUTION TO SEND TO STATE REQUESTING SCHOOL START BACK AFTER LABOR DAY

The Rockwood City Council last night approved a resolution to send to Senator Ken Yager and State Representative Kent Calfee requesting the date for the next school year (2020-2021) to start after this upcoming Labor Day rather than in August. Rockwood Mayor Mike Miller said the reasoning for the resolution is to give parents and students more time to plan vacations and other events canceled by the COVID-19 outbreak. The Rockwood City Council passed the resolution unanimously and ask that all cities in Roane County join them in this request.
