ROCKWOOD CLOSER TO HAVING SECOND FIRE STATION
Rockwood is one step closer to having a second fire station. At the Rockwood City Council meeting this week, Mayor Mike Miller opened three bids for the proposed two bay metal building that will house station two. The old location was deemed unsafe for firefighters nearly two years ago because of mold and mildew issues. None of the three bids exceeded $36,000 for the new building. The bids will be sent to a committee to review. If one is approved, construction of station two will be at a site on North Kingston Avenue beside the Methodist church. No decision was made regarding if the new station will be manned 24 hours seven days a week.
