While serving an outstanding warrant yesterday afternoon, Cumberland County authorities found 38-year-old Curtis Franklin Selby of Sparta in a truck outside his mother’s home on the 100 block of North Sycamore Lane in Crossville. While initiating the arrest, deputies saw Selby dispose of a glass meth pipe in the back of the truck. A search turned up Oxycodone tablets in the front passenger seat.

A black metal container in the passenger-side floorboard contained several plastic bags of meth.

Deputies also discovered a briefcase in the back seat of the truck; the case contained U.S. currency, a large plastic bag of meth, small packets of marijuana, three Xanax tablets, multiple Suboxone packages and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

Additional Suboxone was located under the driver’s seat, along with a wallet containing several EBT cards that did not belong to Selby, and additional U.S. currency.

A search of Selby netted seven Oxycodone tablets, a white envelope with U.S. currency, and additional currency in Selby’s wallet.

In all $5,089 was seized.

Selby then reportedly attempted to destroy his cell phone; the battery was removed, the screen shattered and the phone bent. Deputies reported they believe he tried to destroy evidence related to the sale or delivery of narcotics.

The total amount of drugs seized was 2.5 ounces of meth and 6.4 grams of marijuana.

Deputies are seeking a search warrant for the phone.

Selby was charged with felony manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, felony manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, felony tampering with evidence and three misdemeanor counts of simple possession. He was placed under $46,000 bond and is due in court December 10.
