SENTENCING HEARING DELAYED FOR CUMBERLAND COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE

A sentencing hearing today for a Cumberland County man who entered a plea last month of best interest to reckless homicide was postponed. Officers say 26-year-old Michael Quinn Dale of Crossville discharged a shotgun during an altercation with another man at an Old Mail Road home back in January 2017.The projectiles from the shotgun blast went through a wall and struck 21-year-old Kelsey Nicole Brady who passed away. Reckless homicide is a Class D felony with a sentence range of 2 to 12 years in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000 in Tennessee. The sentence for Dale, with no previous criminal record, calls for a range of 2 to 4 years and how the sentence will be served will be determined by TDOC and the judge. Dale will receive credit for over 400 days already served. In court today, the judge set a new sentencing hearing of May 18, 2018.
