A Crossville man is facing multiple charges following a hit-and-run accident on August 4, 2026, according to the Crossville Police Department.

City units initially responded to a reported domestic situation near Iris Lane and Genesis Road. While responding, dispatchers informed officers that a vehicle leaving the scene had struck another automobile at the intersection and fled.

The victim reported that his vehicle was traveling west on Genesis Road when a tan Chevrolet passenger car pulled out from Iris Lane, struck his vehicle, and then turned around to head back down Iris Lane. Witnesses described the driver as a Black male, estimated to be over six feet tall.

Investigators tracked a possible license plate number to a 2012 Chevrolet Impala and alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office subsequently located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Shown Jones, admitted to driving the car during the collision and leaving the scene.

A records check revealed that Jones was operating the vehicle with a suspended Tennessee driver’s license.

Authorities confirmed that while officers initially responded to a domestic disturbance call, the investigation determined no domestic altercation occurred that warranted criminal charges.

Jones was taken into custody through a coordinated transport effort between the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, White County, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office intake facility. Lt. Jonathan O’Neal served Jones with warrants for leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and driving on a suspended license.
