A 19-year-old male driver was hospitalized Wednesday evening following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 72 near Midway High School.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. when the vehicle ran off the roadway. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was ejected from the vehicle during the incident.

Emergency responders transported him by ambulance to Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville for medical treatment. His current condition has not yet been released.

Personnel from the South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department, Roane County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and other emergency services responded to the scene to assist.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has taken lead on the investigation, which remains active. Further updates will be provided as additional details become available.
