SIGN APPEARS DEGRADING CROSSVILLE CITY MAYOR AND COUNCILMAN

The political climate has been charged around the nation this week with the election of Donald Trump to President. But politics in Crossville has been interesting for the past year with both physical and verbal fights among city officials in meetings and outside in the open with people painting various signs about officials and placing them along roadways and in yards. It’s no secret that most of the problems have arisen inside the city council between members Pete Souza and Jesse Kerley, and since both were replaced by new members this week, many expected the controversy to die down. Sadly that was not so. Sometime Thursday, unknown persons placed a colorful sign across from the Highland Square Shopping Center degrading City Mayor James Mayberry and poking jabs at Council Member Souza. Later that day, the sign was removed. At the time this report was made, 1057 News was unable to get a comment from the mayor on the subject. Picture courtesy of Reporter Jim Young.
