SON OF NIKKI BURGESS TESTIFIES ON DAY TWO OF MURDER TRIAL

Day two of the trial of Caleb Cannon today (May 16, 2017) in Nashville brought testimony from his son that he had with 36-year-old Nikki Burgess. Cannon is on trail for the muder of Burgess, who use to reside in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Their son was only 10-years-old at the time that Burgess disappeared in May 2014. He testified this morning that his mother usually picked him up from school but on May 23, 2014 it was Cannon that picked him up. He stated that Cannon drove him to his mothers home but she was not there. He testified that he and Cannon never spent time at his mothers place when she was not present. He was instructed to go inside the residence through an unsecured back door. The boy’s principal awas then called to testify about the day Cannon picked his son up from school. She said prior to that day she had never met or spoken to Cannon and that he said he was running late and mentioned he was coming from Knoxville. Cannon has since been charged with first degree murder and was arrested in October 2015. A former cellmate told police Cannon confessed to murdering the 36-year-old woman. Her body has not been found, but detectives say dogs alerted to decomposition inside the bathtub of her home and Cannon’s car trunk. Day three of the trial will continue tomorrow (Wednesday, May 17, 2017).
