SPARTA MAN ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION, POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN WHILE INTOXICATED

Just before 1 this morning, police were dispatched to Bullfrogs for a report of a fight in progress.

One suspect, Cody Page of Sparta, attempted to flee on foot. Police caught up with him and discovered his face was covered in blood from multiple lacerations. He was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. His speech was slurred and he couldn’t follow simple instructions. Officers located Page’s gun permit and asked where his gun was.

According to the arrest report, Page “seemed to not want to answer” at first. Police found a 9mm Taurus handgun, with one round in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine, lying on the ground near where Page was apprehended.

Emergency services treated Page at the scene for the lacerations, which came from being beaten in the face by two men – one with his fist, the other with a broken beer bottle. Page said he didn’t know the men and didn’t even know why they were fighting.

Page was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of a handgun while intoxicated.
