SPEAKER HARWELL DEFENDS ADMINISTRATIVE WORKER OVER ALLEGATIONS

Beth Harwell, Speaker of the Tennessee House says that allegations against a member of her administration harassing one of her workers is nonsense brought up by a “lame-duck” lawmaker. Harwell went on to say that Rep. Bill Spivey is angry over the expulsion of fellow Rep. Jeremy Durham over a report filed that alleged Durham sexually harassed over 20 female workers over the years. She claims Spivey, who did not seek re-election earlier this year, opposed the release of the report by the State Attorney General. Harwell’s Clerk, Joe McCord, is being accused of saying derogatory remarks to the employee and also making a lewd hand gesture at her 2-year-old granddaughter.
