SPEAKER HARWELL PROPOSES TO SUE OPIOID DRUG MANUFACTURERS
The ongoing opioid crisis has been singled out in news of late. Now Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell has asked the state attorney general into looking at the possibility of bringing a lawsuit against painkiller manufacturers for their role in the growing problem. Harwell has cited a recent lawsuit filed in Ohio by Attorney General Mike DeWine against five such companies accusing them of misleading patients about the dangers of such drugs. The speaker says that Tennessee is consistently one of the worst states cited for opioid and prescription medication abuse.
