STANDOFF IN ROANE COUNTY YIELDS EXPLOSIVE DEVICES

Roane County Deputies and other emergency personnel were involved in a standoff Tuesday which led to the suspect being taken into custody and the confiscation of several detonation devices. Authorities were dispatched around 2 PM to a home at 1582 Poplar Creek Rd. for the report of a male subject believed to be in possession of illegal firearms and explosive devices. Sheriff Jack Stockton identified the suspect as Travis Seiber. Seiber would not allow deputies access into the home causing the initial standoff which lasted some seven hours. A female at the residence was allowed to leave by Seiber, who finally surrendered. Members of the Knoxville Bomb Squad arrived at the scene, located the explosive devices and rendered them inoperable. There were no injuries, and Seiber may face federal charges also.
