A student was taken into custody yesterday (August 23, 2018) because a potential threatening statement made towards Roane County High School.

No further information regarding the threat was released.

The school system appreciates the cooperation of the Roane County Sheriff’s Department to fully address this incident to the extent of the law. The school system has dealt with this incident with maximum severity and the Sheriff’s Department has done the same from a law enforcement perspective. Roane County School System and the Roane County Sheriff’s Department will continue to identify and investigate all threats, credible or non-credible, against our schools and students. We will address each threat with the utmost severity.
