SUSPECT FLEEING T.H.P. CRASHES ON I-40, FLEES ON FOOT AND STILL AT LARGE

On July 19, 2025, a motor vehicle incident occurred on Interstate 40 West in Cumberland County, Tennessee, as documented in a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) preliminary report. The incident involved two vehicles: a 2011 Hyundai Sonata (Vehicle 1) and a 2010 Nissan Murano (Vehicle 2).
Both vehicles were traveling westbound when the Hyundai Sonata, driven by an unidentified individual, collided with the Nissan Murano, driven by 60-year-old Samuel Larios from North Carolina. The driver of Vehicle 1 was reportedly fleeing from law enforcement at the time of the crash and subsequently fled the scene on foot, remaining at large.
The report notes that the driver of Vehicle 1 was not wearing a seat belt, and their identity, age, and state of origin remain unknown. Charges against this driver are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
In contrast, Samuel Larios, the driver of Vehicle 2, was wearing a seat belt and sustained no injuries. No charges have been filed against Larios, and there were no passengers reported in either vehicle.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify and locate the driver of Vehicle 1.
