SUSPECT TRIES TO FLEE ROANE COUNTY DEPUTIES ON MOTORCYCLE

A motorcycle chase in Roane County resulted in a man facing several charges Thursday. A deputy observed a motorcycle traveling on Gateway Ave. which matched the description of a cycle which Harriman authorities had tried to stop previously. The pursuing officer attempted a stop on N. Kingston Ave after he observed the driver acting recklessly. As the bike came around a curve toward a stop sign on Highway 70, the driver ran off the roadway into mud and grass. He then attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit, 23-year-old Joab Thomas Barnes was taken into custody without further incident. His charges include driving on a revoked license and evading arrest.
