A new Tennessee law will allow some pharmacists to dispense an overdose antidote. Pharmacists can now dispense naloxone, a drug that reverses the effects of opioids to a person at risk of overdose. The drug can be prescribed to a family member, friend or other person to help someone at risk of overdose. The Health Department says those people can receive instruction on how to administer the drug from the pharmacist, or online.
