TENNESSEE’S TAX-FREE HOLIDAY PERIOD SLATED FOR JULY 27 TO JULY 29
Tennessee’s Tax-Free Holiday is next weekend. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 27, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 29, you won’t pay sales tax when you buy a variety of articles – including clothes under $100 per item, school and art supplies $100 or less, and up-to-$1,500 technology purchases that include computers, laptops, tablets and notebooks. All merchants who sell goods to consumers in Tennessee are required to participate in the sales-tax holiday. Business-to-business transactions do not qualify for the tax exemption. Online purchases qualify as long as the customer orders and pays for the item and the retailer accepts the order during the sales-tax holiday period, even if delivery is made after the tax-exemption period.
