THREE ACCIDENTS REPORTED WITHIN FOUR HOURS

Rockwood police, fire and medical responders worked three different traffic accidents yesterday afternoon (Monday, September 11, 2017) within 4 hours of each other. The first took place on Gateway Avenue as a southbound vehicle, driven by an elderly Spring City resident, crossed both northbound lanes of the road and struck two parked cars at Hardee’s. The driver was taken to Roane Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The second crash happened again on Gateway Avenue where a car rear ended another. The third accident took place on South Chamberlin Avenue in front of Meadows Apartments where a southbound SUV driven by 17-year-old Jordon Penley from Rockwood rolled over several times after leaving the road, with two younger juveniles inside. Only one of the juveniles was treated for injuries. Officers say all three were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
